Ruhla

This is a UMF/ Ruhla watch produced in the former DDR and was sent to me by Mike Wills fellow member of RLT forums.

The 33 mm chromed case houses a pin pallet movement very similar to the UMF M24 unit that was produced between 1963 and 1987. In its heyday UMF/ Ruhla produced 25000 movements a day totaling 130 million M24 movements altogether.

This watch was probably made in the 1970’s and is beginning to show some aging, the movement does not keep good time and may be magnetised. Though it looks quite well after a good clean up, I think.

My thanks to Mike for rescuing this watch before it could be thrown away.

I just recieved this Ruhla from Mr. Roy Taylor of RLT Watches. It is almost identical to the one above except for the dial which is more metalic. It’s in very good condition and keeps very good time.

My thanks to Roy for this very nice example.

A closer view of the very clean dial.
